-This is another beautiful performance by 'abdi-l-hay although completely different from the previous one in 'ala ruhi 'ana-l-gani. This one is a remarkably steady one without any tricks. No modal variations (Hilmi manages to stick to the base mode from the beginning to the end limiting himself to minimal modulation within the strict limits of each sentence); no fragmentation of the lyrics or the melody and no unexpected change of tempo. The beauty of the performance rests exclusively on the singer's vocal ambitus and skills, especially the incredible ease with which he keeps moving between the lower-medium part and the higher part of the scale. I think this is a typical example of this exceptional interpreter's ability to please his audience without any spectacular tricks, just relying on his mere voice despite his incredible inventivity as shown in other renditions.
